A small plane that took off from Teterboro Airport on Friday morning crashed into two houses in East Haven, Connecticut killing a Microsoft executive and his son.

According to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration, the Rockwell International Turbo Commander 690B crashed on approach to Tweed Haven Airport around 11:30 a.m. The plane left Teterboro at 10:49 a.m.

The latest:

10:00 p.m. - National Transportation Safety Board investigator Robert Gretz said Friday night there were unconfirmed casualty reports of two or three people in the plane and two or three people in one of the homes. He said local and state authorities were at the scene looking for victims which could number at a total of 4-6.

6:00 p.m. - The pilot of the plane, former Microsoft executive Bill Henningsgaard, 54,of Medina, Washington died in the plane crash according to the New York Times along with his 17-year-old son Maxwell according to the New York Times.

No other victims have yet been identified.

3:00 p.m. - Two casualties are confirmed, with a third person presumed dead.

2:05 p.m. - Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy says 2 bodies can be seen inside the home by rescue workers which could be additional passengers on the plane. Malloy described the bodies as those of a "mature adult" and another as as being "substantially younger'

Malloy said the plane made two attempts at landing and that the fuselage wound up inside one of the homes.

The New Haven Register reports the home is a rental and the family that lives there has lived there less than a year.

1:15 p.m.WVIT TV reports the plane is registered to a Washington State company, Lumax. The plane had last flown from Maryland to Teterboro on Wednesday before today's flight. Neighbor Dave Esposito tells WNBC that he did not hear any engiine noise when the plane went down. He says he ran into the home when he heard a woman screaming her children were inside but could not find them.

1:00 p.m. - The National Transportation Safety Board is taking over the investigation into the crash.

12:55 p.m. - Douglas Jackson, East Haven's fire chief says there were two children age 1 and 13 in the home that was struck and no bodies have been recovered. He expects a "bad outcome." One person was the plane according to WVIT TV. Their mother was outside the home.

12:45 p.m. - East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo tells WVIT TV that firefighers were seen taking two children from one of the homes. The other home that was struck was vacant according to Maturo, who says that one house partially collapsed. There was a large explosion followed by a raging fire.
