Six Flags Wild Safari To Become Park Ride
The animals at Six Flags Great Adventure’s Wild Safari aren’t going anywhere but will instead be part of a new park attraction featuring a zip line that will let visitors get closer than ever before.
Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson is combining the safari with its amusement and water parks into one attraction that it claims, with a 160-acre theme park and 350 acre Wild Safari, will be the world’s largest theme park next year.
Park spokeswoman Kristin Siebeneicher said the largest theme park in the world currently is Disney’s Animal Kingdom at 500 acres. Six Flags Great Adventure will be 510, she said.
When the new Safari Off-Road Adventure opens next Memorial Day weekend, guests will be driven through a revamped safari area next year on park-provided vehicles.
“Never before have guests been able to experience a journey so close to that of a true African safari here in the U.S.,” said John Fitzgerald, park president. “By combining the world’s most exotic animals with Six Flags’ signature entertainment, the Safari Off Road Adventure will be the most incredible animal adventure anywhere. Where else can you ride a wave, go on safari, and soar on world-record breaking coasters?”
Camp Aventura will be added to the Wild Safari where guests will be able to visit with the animals and pet and hand feed them. They will also be able to ride a zip line above the Wild Safari.
“This is a monumental change for the Wild Safari and our guests,” said Dr. Bill Rives, safari director and chief veterinarian. “For nearly 40 years, people have dreamed of more up-close animal experiences with fewer boundaries, and now we can truly deliver a VIP experience to each and every one of our guests─and it’s included in their theme park admission.”
Six Flags says prices will stay the same next season.
