Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas had to cut short a planned 10-day cruise after hundreds of people became ill with vomiting, diarrhea and other symptoms. It returned to port in Bayonne on Wednesday.

Officials at Royal Caribbean say the ship is on track to depart at its originally scheduled time Friday afternoon on a nine-night trip to the Caribbean after being thoroughly cleaned.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say 630 passengers and 54 crew members fell ill. They are conducting tests to determine if norovirus is to blame, which would make it one of the largest such outbreaks in the last 20 years.
