Shed Fire in Toms River Sends Smoke Plumes over Hooper Avenue

Thick smoke billowing into the skies over Hooper Avenue near downtown Toms River gave drivers on the busy county road pause as firefighters raced to tamp out the flames early this afternoon.

WOBM News anchor Dianne DiOliveira spotted the plumes rising from a spot behind several businesses north of Indian Head Road at about 12:30 PM.

Preliminary information form police reveals that a shed behind a home ignited. Details still being organized trace it to an overheated lawn mower. A department spokesman says that no other nearby structures appeared to be affected and no injuries have been reported.
