I’m a bit tired over all this New Jersey and New York talk about who is really hosting the Super Bowl.  It’s really quite simple as both needed each other to land the first and maybe last cold-weather outside Super Bowl.

Clearly the NFL would not be coming here if there was no New York City. Nothing against Jersey City but the Big Apple is a big part of why the game is here.  However in order to play the game you have to have a football stadium and New York does not have one, that is unless you count Buffalo.  MetLife Stadium is very much in New Jersey.

So at the end of the day it really doesn’t matter what people think…it’s a combined New Jersey/New York effort.  Case closed.

Today is the day when things really pick up as hundreds of reporters and the like head to the Prudential Center in Newark for Media Day.  This is where the same questions are asked time and time again of the same players and nothing ever really comes out of it.

You can get the media throngs will be the greatest in front of Peyton Manning and Richard Sherman and if you want to speak with a back-up offensive lineman you’ll have full access.

By the way this annual exercise has produced more than its share of dumb questions to players including “what’s your relationship with football?”….”is Ram a noun or a verb?”  and “if you could be a tree, what kind of tree would you be?”  Stay tuned to see what today produces.

It has been a tough few days at Southern Regional High School following the sudden death of longtime basketball and field hockey coach Kathy Snyder.  The Rams wrestling team delivered some badly-needed good news Monday when they soundly defeated rival Jackson Memorial to all but clinch the Class A South championship, their first in 9 years.  A memorial service for Snyder will be held tonight in the school’s 11/12 gymnasium beginning at 6pm.

Belated congratulations to Toms River South basketball coach John MacIntosh, who last weekend collected his 400th coaching victory as the Indians beat Toms River North.  MacIntosh is in his 33rd season of coaching and before arriving at South coached at his alma mater Central Regional and started the program at Lacey.  His current Indians team is 9-3 overall and 5-2 in the highly-competitive Class A South division,  MacIntosh has been able to coach his sons Chris and Sean with Sean now part of his staff.
