A 32-year-old former Toms River Intermediate School South Spanish Teacher heads to prison for six years for having sex with a 15-year-old student.  Erin Haskell of Barnegat learned her fate today, February 10, 2014 in Ocean County Superior Court after pleading guilty to 2nd degree Sexual Assault.

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato announced that Haskell will also be subject to parole supervision for life under Megan's Law and ordered to have no contact with the victim under Nicole's Law.

Haskell was arrested on November 21, 2012 for entering into an inappropriate sexual relationship with a juvenile student. Further details released in an Associated Press story revealed that the incidents took place in both Beachwood and Barnegat between June and September of 2012 when Haskell was teaching at the Beachwood School and also served as the faculty advisor to the Drama Club.

Haskell had been free on $300,000 cash bail and was immediately remanded to prison to begin serving her sentence. Haskell could have faced up 30 years in prison prior to her guilty plea.
