Services set for Bayville teen, probe continues into his death

A viewing takes place Wednesday and funeral mass Thursday in Toms River for Jared Marchiano, 17, of Bayville, while the probe continues into his death on the grounds of a nearby business during the weekend just past.

Investigators initially have determined that a slab of marble or granite at Stone N'Counters toppled onto him as he tried traversing a space between the massive pieces of rock.

A passing driver reportedly spotted the aftermath at about 6:40 AM Saturday. Authorities, still tracing the time frame, believe that the teen was on the grounds while the business was closed.

NJ.com reports that the Marchiano family has close ties to Berkeley Township Little League, where his father Peter serves as treasurer.

Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home hosts the wake Wednesday, 4 PM until 9 PM. The mass is scheduled for Thursday, 10 AM, at St. Joseph's Church.
