Romeo Antwon Worthy, 30, was apprehended without incident Monday at the Winteringham Village apartment complex, according to information from the office of County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato.

Megan's Law stipulations require offenders to register with municipal police where they live, and when they change addresses, jobs or schools, either annually or every 90 days.

Failure to do so is a third-degree crime, carrying a possible sentence of three to five years on conviction. Investigators said that Worthy should have communicated with Toms River police by June 8.

Worthy was placed in the Ocean County Jail, with bail set at $40,000, and no option for release on payment of 10 percent.

He was previously arrested on the same charge in February 2016 in Toms River, when detectives said he vacated his registered address without notice.

Investigation of this case is headed by Ocean County Detective Juan G. Pastrana, who will accept relevant information confidentially and anonymously at 732-929-2027, extension 5794.

The Prosecutor's Office notes that charges are accusations, and that defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven or found guilty in courts of law.
