School threat probe in Plumsted
A threatening scrawl on a bathroom wall that reportedly emptied New Egypt Middle School earlier this week remains under scrutiny by Plumsted police.
The scribble, found Wednesday morning in a stall of a girls' washroom indicated that someone would bomb the school on November 17, according to information posted on the Ocean County Police, Fire and EMS Facebook page attributed to Corporal Jason Reilly.
Following notification to School Resource Officer Danielle Depalma at about 11 AM, school officials evacuated students as a precaution while police combed the building and brought in members of the Ocean County Sheriff's CSI unit.
The Plumsted PD Criminal Investigation Unit continues to trace the source, and encourages those with knowledge of the incident who can help the probe to call 609-758-1540.
