Local police issue a warning about a number of telephone scam calls received by a residents in Ocean County today. Toms River Police Chief Mike Mastronardy says they know of two incidents so far, one in their town and another in Lavellette, where residents received calls that their grandchildren were involved in a motor vehicle accidents in Peru and needed money wired to them to get home.  Chief Mastronardy  says one resident nearly fell for it.

They're asking anyone who gets a call like this to contact police.
