Cataldo, 64, was sentenced Friday in Freehold, according to information from the office of Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Grammiccioni. He had pleaded guilty to a first-degree charge of attempted murder, a second-degree weapons count and a third-degree charge of resisting arrest.

He's required to serve 85 percent of the term, or just over 10 years, before parole consideration under terms of New Jersey's No Early Release Act (NERA) and will serve five years parole on release, authorities said.

The incident took place outside the Sand Bar at about 12:56 AM on June 18, 2013. Investigators determined that Cataldo walked his 36-year-old general manager to her car after they closed down for the night, asked her to wait as she entered her car, retrieved a gun from his own car and fired several rounds.

Responding officers found the woman being tended by several bystanders. She underwent surgery in Neptune for a gunshot wound in the back, and for eye and lung injuries.

Cataldo was tracked to his home, where the standoff ensued. Police were forced to bring in the Ocean County Regional SWAT team as negotiations dragged on. After about eight hours, SWAT officers stormed the house. Cataldo retreated to a bathroom, grabbed a gun and fired a shot that hit no one, authorities said.

He was arrested with no further incidents, authorities said.
