Safety While Hiking In Area Parks
Watch hiking in area woods following Hurricane Sandy
This weekend I was out hiking and saw alot of downed trees, so be careful as you head out. Numerous trees were either down or stuck hanging halfway down. Must admit the trees that fell half-way are the ones that make me nervous and you kinda have to go around or under them at times. Some areas may be best avoided when in a heavily wooded area with alot of fallin trees, use good judgement. Follow Park Rangers instructions.
It appeared that there was much more "pine" trees down...only a few oaks. The trees mostly up-rooted due to the saturated ground and heavy winds .
