TRENTON — The ramp from Route 95 north/295 south to Route 1 south will stay closed until at least April.

"The demolition of the bridge leading to the Route 1 south ramp took longer than initially expected and weather slowed progress, which is typical during the winter months," NJ DOT spokesman Keith Israel said of the first part of the project at Exit 67, which started on Jan. 4 and was projected to take eight weeks to be finished.

Israel said workers have finished the demolition of the entire bridge past the ramp's split to travel north or south on Route 1, and bridge deck panels will be installed this weekend.

"Once that is complete, parapets will then be installed. NJDOT expects to return traffic to the Route 1 south ramp by mid-April," Israel said.

The second part of the $4 million project will replace the northbound ramp's deck but will not require a full closure.
