Road Repaving Scheduled in Four Ocean County Communities
Eleven stretches of road around Ocean County get new surfaces and improved drainage in projects being approved next week by the Board of Freeholders.
Toms River, Brick, Lakewood, and Long Beach are included in the $2,000,000 contract being awarded Wednesday to Earle Asphalt of Farmingdale.
Work begins in a matter of weeks afterward says board Deputy Director James Lacey, who acknowledges that it’ll be troublesome at times for drivers. But, he adds, “the completed repairs will make for better and safer traveling around Ocean County.”
The contract covers Herbertsville Road in Brick, from the Monmouth line to Lanes Mills Road; a quarter-mile of Farraday Avenue in Lakewood; Long Beach Boulevard in Long Beach, from 31st to 59th streets; and in Toms River, James Street from Main Street to Hooper Avenue; Massachusetts Avenue from Cox Cro Road to Route 70; Vermont Avenue from Cox Cro Road to the Lakewood border; and Buckwald Drive at Ocean County College.
The board is about to solicit bids for four more projects they have targeted for a July start: in Toms River, Church Road from Hooper to North Bay Avenues; Lanes Mills Road in Lakewood and Brick Townships, from Route 88 to Parkway Interchange 91; Lighthouse Drive in Ocean Township from Route 9 to Barnegat Bay; and West Bay Avenue in Barnegat from Pine Street to Route 72.
