If you ever wondered what it's like to be a cop, the Ocean Township Police Department is giving its social media followers a chance to take a virtual ride along, the first in Monmouth County.

Participants of the tweet-along on Twitter and Facebook are encouraged to ask questions from 11 am to 7pm on November 26, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

Authorities said Lieutenant Timothy Torchia will be riding with Officer Phil Jackson and tweeting about everything that happens during the shift, from the mundane to the serious, with the exception of incidents sensitive in nature or involving ongoing investigations.

The Police Department has been using social media for over a year to communicate events to followers and hopes the tweet-along will attract even more people.
