Hello it’s me. I was wondering after all this time if you thought I was gone.

Yes it’s been a while since we last communicated thanks to a little thing called the WOBM Christmas Classic and then a few days of R&R. Let me be one of the last to likely wish you a Happy New Year and I hope your 2016 is off to a good start.

I was able to catch up on some movies and TV last week as we saw “Concussion”, “Joy”, “Sisters” and “Point Break”. The first three were good and frankly “Point Break” was one you should save your money on. We also binge-watched the controversial “Making A Murderer” on Netflix which has gotten the attention of many even if it might not be a totally impartial portrayal of a real-life tragedy.

Speaking of movies and TV I caught most of last night’s Golden Globe Awards show, the only major awards show that combines both. Best picture honors went to “The Revenant” and “The Martian” along with acting awards to their two stars, Leonard DiCaprio & Matt Damon. Host Ricky Gervais insisted he would be on his best behavior but was not, especially during an uncomfortable give-and-take with presenter Mel Gibson which resulted in a couple of the many “bleeps” that appeared during the broadcast.

The TV awards went mainly to shows that many of us have never even heard of because of the networks they air on including “Mozart in the Jungle” and “Mr. Robot.” Probably the most popular winner of the night was Sylvester Stallone who took hope a long-awaited Golden Globe as best supporting actor for his most recent portrayal of Rocky Balboa in “Creed.”

So much for home field advantage in the NFL playoffs. All four road teams won this weekend including Sunday victories by the Seahawks in frigid Minnesota and the Packers just outside of Washington DC. Let’s see if that trend continues next weekend.

Well we now know it was the Giants who wanted to move on from Tom Coughlin because less than a week after the two parted company the 69-year old Coughlin will head down the New Jersey Turnpike today to speak with the Eagles about their head coaching vacancy. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see him in green?

Well that’s all the time I have but we’ll chat again tomorrow.
