Carluccio was a high-profile attorney at the Jersey Shore with the firm Carluccio, Leone, Dimon, Doyle & Sacks. During his career, he tried over a dozen murder cases, served as public defender for Ocean and Burlington Counties, was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention and served as president of the Ocean County Bar Association.

Born in Hoboken, Carluccio was raised in Keansburg and settled in Toms River Township after graduating St. Peters College and New York University Law School. Friends say he was one of the great trial lawyers in the state.

His friend and former partner Steven Leone remembers him as more than just a hard worker. Leone says "he was a great friend. We both had a mutual respect for the law and could sit and have hours of talks about so many topics and issues. He was very connected to social issues. I will miss him. The law field and Ocean County will miss him as well."

Surviving are his wife Judith (nee Filker) of 46 years, daughter Michel and her husband John and their children Evelyn and Roxane, son Matthew and his wife Sarah and their son Leonardo. He is also survived by his brothers Paul, David and Joseph, and a sister Nancy. He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Evelyn Carluccio.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River on Hooper Avenue.
