Two landmarks along Route 9 in the Beachwood/Berkeley corridor are being demolished right now. Demolition began on the Beachwood Shopping Center in Berkeley Township earlier this month. Then just this week demolitions began on the he former "Circle Inn" building building in Beachwood.

So I was born and raised in Beachwood, but it got me thinking: what are YOUR memories of the two locations, and what would you like to see happen to the Beachwood Shopping Center during it's redevelopment?

The "Circle Inn" building has nearly a decade of history behind it. It was most recently home to Carpet Land (the business moved to another location in Beachwood). The plan is for that building to become a CVS in the coming months, according to the Riverside Signal.

I'm too young to remember the "glory days" of the Beachwood Shopping Center, but I definitely remember shopping in Woolwirth's with my parents as I was growing up. Of course, I also have very vivid memories of bowling at the old bowling alley in the plaza (Thunder Bowl).

So what are your memories of the shopping center? Developers are working on submitting plans to Berkeley Township, but what do you think should go there? A chain store? A new shopping center? Leave a comment below to let us know.
