Toms River High School North will be the site of a charity flag football game tomorrow night billed as Pros vs. Heroes as former and current NFL players take on Toms River’s Finest, including members of the Toms River Police Department.

Heading up the group of pros will be former Toms River North standout Darian Barnes, who earned a Super Bowl ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Barnes, who was hired this week as an assistant coach at Colts Neck, is Chief Project Manager for GridIron G.A.N.G. who will be hosting a two-day football camp at Toms River North today and tomorrow.  The charity flag football game Friday night at 8pm is also expected to include Bengals receiver and former Rutgers standout Mohammad Sanu, Tampa Bay tight end Tim Wright who played at Wall High School and Rutgers, former Giants wide receivers Amani Toomer and Odessa Turner and three-time Super Bowl champion Dan Klecko plus many others.

Among those representing the police department will be Sgt. Ron Sermarini, a former Mariners quarterback, Sgt. Scott Moeller and Patrolmen Andy Chencharik, Vincent Pedalino and Jason Stallworth.  Proceeds from the game will go to several locally based charities.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $3 for students with discounts for Toms River School and Municipal Employees.

There are several other events planned around the football camp and flag football game including meet and greets and autograph events at Cool Beans Coffee House, Miracle Sports Pub, Chris Roberts Italian Bistro and Hemingway’s Café.  For more check out Pro Player Football Camp on Facebook.  Coastal Modular Group, a modular home builder based in Wall is the major sponsor of the camp and charity flag football game.

The Jersey Mike’s Jersey Shore Summer Basketball League is back for another season with the schedule opening this week at Wall High School.  Back to defend their title is Seaview Jeep with Stern’s Trailer, T&T Coast, Larson Ford, Team Shore, New Jersey Tarheels and new entrants Island Title and Horn Law Group making up the remainder of the eight-team league.

The league will play doubleheaders on Monday and Thursday nights at Wall through July 24th before the playoffs begin.  Admission to all games inside the school’s air conditioned gym is free.
