Until toxicology results reveal the cause and manner of William Akers's death, it is being considered suspicious, says spokesman Al Della Fave at the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

Akers reportedly was found lifeless in a home in Seaside Heights before dawn Thursday. Drug-related items found near his body spurred the investigation, authorities said.

Jashon Brinson, 28, of Lakewood, is being questioned. He was charged with two counts related to heroin possession. Sources close to the investigation say that Brinson was currently out on bail related to a drug charge filed on October 10.

A viewing is scheduled Sunday at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals in Seaside Park. Services are scheduled Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church in Seaside Heights.

In the obituary released by his family, donations in lieu of flowers are being accepted by Hope Sheds Light, c/o Steve Willis, 247 Main Street, Toms River NJ, 08753. Messages of condolence can be sent to the Ryan Funeral Home web site.
