The Monday brush fire that consumed about an acre of parched land in Monmouth's Ocean Township remains of interest to police.

Firefighters from the Wanamassa and Oakhurst companies and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service knocked back the flames on the north end of Clearview Drive, police said

According to information from Detective Lieutenant Kevin Faller, it was reported about 4:28 PM. Several teens were seen bolting from the spot in two cars just before the first report of the blaze reached headquarters, police said.

Investigators would like to speak with anyone who either saw the incident or has knowledge about it.
