Some 7,000 Jersey Central Power & Light customers in Brick were left in the dark Sunday night, when a substation caught fire in the northern section of the Township, according to the Ocean County Police, Fire & EMS Facebook page.

Power went out shortly after 9:00 p.m., north of the Metedeconk River. Jack Martin Boulevard and Burrsville Road were temporarily closed in the area.

Service was restored to all but 500 customers by 10:30 p.m.. No remaining outages were reported by 2 a.m..
