Cambridge Police say there is no gunman on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology just outside Boston which was put on lockdown after the report of a man with a rifle.

Police tweeted out a message that a search was conducted and no gunman was found.

Earlier, police had tweeted a report of a gunman on Massachusetts Avenue and MIT alerted students via text that the school was on lockdown according to WBZ TV. State and Cambridge Police conducted a search of the Main Group Building of MIT and cleared the scene around 10AM.
