OCEAN TOWNSHIP — A stabbing that began as a domestic dispute last week was not the first time police visited the Monmouth County home, according to a recent report.

In the past five years, police have responded to the home, located in in the Cedar Village at Ocean retirement community, about 50 times, according to NJ.com. On Nov. 9, police responded to to the residence after receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a disturbance. When they arrived at about 3 p.m., officers found a 50-year-old woman who had been stabbed several times.

She was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where she underwent surgery for life-threatening injuries, according to a previous statement from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

The woman's alleged assailant, with whom she lived, was charged with attempted murder, possession of weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was also charged with aggravated assault on a police officer after he allegedly spit on an officer during his arrest, NJ.com reported.

The man charged in the stabbing was arrested and held on $400,000 with no 10 percent option, police said.
