A home invasion robbery in Toms River is under investigation by Toms River and Lakewood Police. Police are going door-to-door tonight on Colonial Drive to ask neighbors if they saw anything unusual Thursday night.  Police say three armed men wearing ski masks broke into the home by forcing open a sliding glass door in the back of the home in the Rivercrest  section of Toms River late Thursday night night just before midnight and tied up the 66-year-old husband and his 56-year-old wife in their bedroom.

The men  ransacked the couple's home  for about 30 minutes,  made off with a large amount of cash and jewelry inside 2 grey safes The couple was freed by a neighbor who was checking his mail and saw the suspects leave in two vehicles.

Police say the suspects wore black ski masks and blue and white shirts and brown work gloves.  The victims have been involved in the jewelry business and the investigation indicates that the residence was targeted.

Lakewood police are aiding in the search.
