NEW BRUNSWICK — Reports of gun fire near Rutgers University on Friday are being investigate by police.

Police Capt. J.T. Miller said the shots were heard around noon at the intersection of Jones Avenue and Seaman Street, which is near the Cook/Douglass campus.

Miller said that there are no victims or suspects and police are "investigating further to ascertain the nature of the report."

The reported shooting comes a month after former Rutgers student Joshua S. Thompson, 25, was accused of stabbed a student and an instructor at the university's business school in Piscataway.
