A Bayville man charged with aggravated assault after stabbing someone in a road rage incident last month is no longer the only one facing charges.

On Thursday police arrested Salvatore Murante Jr., 37, from Beachwood and charged him with aggravated assault against the other man, Scott Moore, along with two counts of child endangerment, DWI and having an open bottle of booze while having minors in the car.

It was a case of road rage that escalated on Veterans Boulevard near Harding Avenue in Berkeley Township.

Police say a Bayville man allegedly stabbed someone and then took off around 11:00 pm on January 23.

Not long after that though, Scott Moore, 55, of Elizabeth Avenue called police and told them he was responsible and had cuts on his hands.

Police responded to Moore and continued to secure Veterans Boulevard which was closed down as the scene was processed with the assistance of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI.

The victim still at the original scene suffered stab and cut wounds and was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Moore was transported to Community Medical Center for minor injuries and for injuries consistent with an assault.

He was then arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and possession for a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

He was released on a summons in accordance with the Bail Reform Act.

On Thursday of this week after an extensive investigation conducted by Berkeley Township Detectives, which included multiple search warrants and several court orders, Murante Jr. was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault against Moore and Two Counts of Child Endangerment.

Murante was also charged with driving while intoxicated and having an open container of alcohol.

He was processed and released on a summons.

Police say the Child Endangerment charges are due in part to Murante operating his motor vehicle while intoxicated and have these juveniles in the vehicle.
