Pleasantville Police Seek Suspect In Attack On 96-Year-Old woman
Police are seeking the suspect who sexually assaulted, beat and robbed a 96-year-old woman in her Pleasantville home.
Relatives believe the masked suspect sneaked into the woman's Pleasantville home when she went outside to get a newspaper early Saturday.
“She said he knocked her on the floor and tried to strangle her," her son, a former police officer, told WMGM TV. Relatives have asked that she not be named as to protect her identity.
The assailant also took things from the woman's dresser draws. “It’s disgusting,” neighbor Rosemarie Henry told the station. "That's my lady, my friend, I go and check on her and things.”
Police are shocked by the case and have made it a priority. “Because it's so serious and the victim herself,” Pleasantville Chief Jose Ruiz told WMGM TV. “Like I said, it's something that you don't even think about.”
The woman is staying with family and hope the case is solved quickly.
Police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact them at 609-641-6100.
