State Troopers spotted 36-year-old William Errico of Penndel, Pennsylvania driving a pickup northbound in the southbound lanes near milepost 85 in Ocean County shortly before 2:30 a.m. and tried flagging him down, according to the Asbury Park Press.

The police chase ensued when Errico allegedly kept driving, then took Exit 81 onto Lakehurst Road in Toms River, proceeded through local roads, then got back on the Parkway's northbound side.

Authorities said the pursuit continued for about 11 miles until troopers deployed spike strips at milepost 93 in Wall shortly after 3:00 a.m., which punctured a tire on the pickup and resulted in Errico's arrest, according to the Asbury Park Press.  No one was injured.

Errico was charged with eluding police, driving while intoxicated, and possessing pot and illegally having a shotgun and a revolver.

He was being held in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River Wednesday morning on $200,000 bail.
