Christopher S. Solomon, 18, was arrested Monday by Monmouth County authorities, assisted by Glassboro and Rowan University police, according to acting County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni's office.

He is charged with second-degree counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and a fourth-degree count of aggravated assault.

Matawan police who responded to the report of a brawl and gunfire on Park Avenue at about 7:43 PM on March 1 discovered that the crowd had dispersed and disappeared, but found evidence of shooting. They determined that no one had been hit by bullets.

Solomon was placed in the Monmouth County Correctional Insitution in Freehold in lieu of $50,000 bail, and ordered to have no contact with victims if he obtains his release.

The matter is still under investigation, and authorities seek any details that can help advance the probe.

Detective Brian Westbrot of the Prosecutor's Office can be reached at 800-533-7443. Matawan PD Detective Joseph Lovallo can be reached at 732-566-1010.
