The battle between Pelican Island and Snooki looks to get uglier as some residents have hired a lawyer to fight plans to tape her MTV series in a rented home while others defend the owner of the home.

Land use lawyer Ronald Gasiorowski of Red Bank informed the township Council last night he has been hired by several residents and is threatening legal action against Berkeley Township and MTV according to the Patch of Toms River.

MTV has rented a house on Sunset Drive South that will serve as the vacation home for Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and her MTV roommate Jennifer "J-Woww" Farley that has caused an outcry by Pelican Island residents.

“They are seeking to turn this house into a movie production studio. It's not someone who is living in this house as a resident, or having a summer vacation there. They're taking this house and they're converting it into a commercial use," Gasiorowski told the Council.

He placed the blame on the situation on the owner of the home in question, Mike Loundy, a realtor and member of the Seaside Heights Business Improvement District. “The biggest thing we're offended about is that one of our own Pelican Island residents would sell us out,” said Kosakowski according to the Patch.

Loundy was defended by Mark Wade, president of the Pelican Island homeowners association, who said as a resident and not as president that residents should not let this controversy take focus off of rebuilding homes lost to Superstorm Sandy reports the Star Ledger.

“I support Mike Loundy. He's a good neighbor, a good person, and he helps everyone on that island," said Wade reports the Patch.

Berkeley Township Mayor Carmen Amato at the meeting explained that he only knew that a woman and her child would be filming in a home at 515 Sunset Drive South.

Amato will propose an ordinance that to regulate taping of television shows but admits that Snooki and J-Woww will be long gone by the time it takes effect.

Township Administrator Christopher Reid said township zoning officers have already issued zoning violations according to the Patch of Toms River.  The producers of “Snooki and JWoww," the MTV show starring the former "Jersey Shore" roommates, have also agreed to pay for extra security near the home.

After the Star Ledger reported that members of the Pelican Island Property Owners Association held a meeting on Sunday to discuss ways to prevent the former “Jersey Shore” co-stars from being able to tape, Polizzi came out swinging with her thoughts.

Polizzi has been in London reporting on the birth of the royal baby for MTV.
