Pedestrian struck in Lakewood hit-and-run

A pedestrian escaped serious injury after being struck by a vehicle in Lakewood Township Wednesday night by a hit-and-run driver, according to authorities.

Authorities continue seeking the motorist who drove away after hitting the victim on Route 88 near Ocean County Park around 6:30 p.m., according to NJ Advance Media.

When police arrived, the victim was bleeding from the head, but was alert. The victim was taken to Ocean Medical Center in Brick for treatment.

Authorities believe a side-view mirror found near the accident scene was from the vehicle.
