If your commute takes you across Route 70 in Burlington and Ocean Counties, be prepared for some delays.

The NJ DOT has begun a pavement rehab and improvement project that will shut down lanes and set up detours from Pemberton to Manchester everyday between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm thru the end of the year.

NJDOT's Contractor, A.E. Stone, will temporarily close the right shoulder and install traffic shifts along Route 70 in both directions between the area just east of North Branch Road in Pemberton and move east ending at Lacey Road/CR 539 in Manchester.

The DOT says the $12,200,000.00 improvement project includes a full depth pavement reclamation and rubblization, milling and paving, guiderail upgrades, and construction of ADA compliant curbs and ramps, and drainage improvements on approximately seven miles of roadway, as well as intersection work at Whiting New Egypt Road/CR539.

You'll have access to properties at all times during construction but officials says occasional overnight work may be necessary during construction.

Variable message signboards and lane closure signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of planned closures.

The NJDOT says they will provide notification before any lane or ramp closures.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
