UPDATE - According to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and the TRANSCOM traffic service, conflicting information has lead to confusion over the status of Exit 90 over the next few days.

Original stories follow:

If you've driven the Parkway North in the last week or so, you've surely seen this sign at Exit 90:

We reached out to The Turnpike Authority for clarification on the exact nature and duration of the closure. A representative told us, "that information is incorrect". When asked directly if  the sign on the Parkway announcing the closure is in fact incorrect, the representative told us, "yes, we're working on addressing that now".

So, the latest information that we have directly from The Turnpike Authority and official traffic reporting services is as follows:

  • Exit 90 will not be fully closed
  • It will be subject to closure starting tomorrow (Wednesday, October 28th), when work on the ramp is set to begin.
  • The work is expected to last until possibly Saturday.

Original story follows:

Parkway commuters, be aware! If you're a regular user of Exit 90 in Brick, starting tomorrow (Wednesday, October 28th), you'll have to get off the Parkway either earlier, or later.

As part of the continuing Parkway interchange expansion project, Exit 90, which gets you off of the highway at Chambers Bridge Road, will close on Wednesday at 6pm, just in time for the back half of the evening commute.

Thankfully, there is a reasonable option now that won't take you too far out of your way - the new Exit 89 interchange will only bring you off of the Parkway a little out of the way. But if you miss it, you're stuck on the highway until Exit 98.

As I've said before, a little inconvenience now will lead to a better overall trip later when the full interchange is complete and open once again, as anyone who's recently used Exit 89 can tell you.
