Before I get too far ahead of myself here, yes, it's still summer for another week.

It was well into the 80s today, but the scent of pumpkin spice has begun wafting over Ocean County, and some ambitious folks have started to decorate for Halloween.

And as we all know, once fall begins it's only a matter of time before winter arrives too (actually, it's literally a matter of time - 98 days to be exact, from the start of autumn to the start of winter).

So, what can we expect when winter arrives?

Well, if you're not a fan of cold and snow you might want to stop reading now.

Now, to be fair, professional meteorologists aren't big fans of the Farmer's Almanac's predictions, with one scientist saying that, "The ability to predict events that far in advance is zero."

So when we take a logical look at things here in this last full week of summer, we still have a long way to go before we have to worry about how winter will impact Ocean County. But hey, it never hurts to be prepared, right?
