Officials say, firefighters barely escaped the Main Street residence, after being knocked down by the intense heat and flames from a 'flashover' while trying to rescue an occupant inside.

The fire was reported at around 5:30 p.m. with word that a person was trapped in the cellar and firefighters were injured. Police aren't releasing the identity of the victim but neighbors told the Asbury Park Press that a father and son shared the residence.

The firefighters were taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River after suffering from burns and smoke inhalation. However, the injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
