One person critically injured in Neptune shooting

A shooting in Neptune Monday night has left a man in critical condition, according to Township police.

The unidentified victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with a single gun shot wound, according to reports.

The shooting happened around 8 p.m. on Seventh Avenue, between Route 35 and Ridge area in a neighborhood some residents described as normally quiet.

Little information is known about the shooting, and possible shots fired on Monroe, several blocks away, according to authorities. The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office is involved in the investigation.
