One killed in Ocean County accident

One person was killed and another seriously injured after being struck by a car on the Jersey Shore.

Police said two people were struck on Route 9 in front of the Shop Rite supermarket in the Bayville section of Beachwood around 9 p.m. on Saturday night. One victim died at the scene while the other was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Neither victims has been identified by police. It is not known No charges have yet been filed.

Route 9 was closed for several hours on Saturday night for an investigation and clean up of the incident.
