TOMS RIVER — Police were involved in a shooting in Ocean County on Sunday evening.

Ocean County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Jack Sramaty confirmed in a statement to the Patch of Toms River the shooting took place in the Silverton section of Toms River but offered no other details.

"As per the Attorney General's directive regarding such incidents, this matter is being investigated by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit with the full cooperation of the Toms River Police Department," Srmaty said, according to the report.

Toms River Police spokesman Ralph Stocco told the Asbury Park Press the incident took place around 6:45 p.m. and no Toms River Police officer was injured. Sramaty told the Newspaper no further information would be available until Monday morning.
