Ptl. Nicholas Bondarew was driving along Hulses Corner road crossing by the freewood acres section of Howell while off-duty when he saw a man wearing a backpack bolt from the backyard of a residence  The suspect was later arrested along with two others for their roles on June 16th.

The three people inside the car all had conflicting stories on what they were doing according to police.

They said they were in the area to do landscaping work but after on duty patrolman caught up with the robbers, they found a crowbar and a large flat-head screwdriver instead.

Investigators say 39 year old Miguel Paredes-Aquino was seen walking from the backyard of a 70 year old man whose window he tried prying open, while one of his accomplices rang the doorbell to distract the owner.

Officer Bondarew saw Paredes-Aquino leave the backyard, then hop in a Ford Escape parked nearby and drive off on Route 9 south.

Patrolman were dispatched to Route 9 where they caught up with the three men inside and placed 44 year old Freddy Valera-Palomino of Jamesburg, 27 year old Rolando Lopez of Freehold, and Paredes-Aquino also from Jamesburg under arrest.

They face charges for criminal attempt to commit burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, and possession of burglary tools.

Bail was set at $75,000 for Paredes-Aquino who is also a deported felon, and $50,000 for the other two men in the car for their roles in the incident.
