Ocean Township Police Earn State Accreditation
Police in Monmouth's Ocean Township attain a level of standards that few departments consistently reach - accreditation by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.
Chief Steven R. Peters and Captains Michael Resetar and Earl Giffords accepted the designation May 9 in Princeton. There will be an official presentation June 6 at the Township Council meeting.
Accreditation is a professional achievement, acknowledging policies and procedures that are valid in concept and efficient in practice. Ocean Township's police department is the seventh in Monmouth County to achieve the three-year status.
The road to accreditation began in February with a two-day visit to the department by NJSACOP inspectors, who researched the agency's organization, operations, management and administration.
Ocean Township is one of only 29 local law-enforcement agencies to earn the designation.
