County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato accepted the designation from NJSACOP Accreditation Program Manager Harry Delgado, E.Ds., at the June 1 public meeting of the Board of Freeholders in Toms River.

Coronato told attendees that Prosecutor's offices in only eight other New Jersey counties have cleared the rigorous, multiple-year auditing, reviews and grading for internal operations, policies, organization, community relations, safety, training and preparedness.

"Accreditation provides objective evidence of our agency's commitment to excellence in leadership, resource management, and service delivery. It assures the public we serve, that OCPO is using the best practices in modern policing and elevates us as a model for other law enforcement agencies," Coronato said in prepared remarks.

Agencies winning accreditation are required to provide ongoing proof of compliance throughout the designation's three-year lifespan. Those who earn it say it boosts public trust through its high degree of accountability.
