'Always Supporting Our Military' is a non-profit collecting items and putting together care packages to ship overseas to our military men and women, but they need your help.

It's a group of about 20-retired individuals who gather every Tuesday from 10:00 am until about 1:00 pm at director Barbara Youmans Toms River home to put together these packages.

"We really want to do this to send these packages to them," Youmans said. "We get thank you cards from them saying how much they appreciate knowing that there are people that care about them and thinking about them over there."

They continue to also serve as pen pals for our military troops.

"Some girls put letters that we put in the box and if (the troops) need someone to write to, we'll write back and forth with them," Youmans said.

They're a 501(c)(3) organization which means they rely on financial support via direct donations and fundraising efforts.

This is where they're asking for your help.

"We send out between 10-15 boxes every week as long as we have enough money," Youmans said. "The boxes cost us about $17.40."

Youmans said they're also now in search of a bigger place to hold all the supplies and put together these care packages.

They're collecting items to package for the men and women overseas like shampoo, hand soap, non-aerosol shaving cream, hard candy, beef jerky, gum, cereal, eye drops, mouth wash, socks, hand-wipes, bug spray, cotton swabs, chap-stick, sunglasses, flip-flops, peanut butter, peanuts, conditioner, bobby pins, facial cleansers, panty liners, overnight pads, midol, non-aerosol hair spray, hand lotion, etc.

"These guys really need this stuff, you wouldn't believe the letters we get," Youmans said.
