While the Jersey Shore is ready for tourists, there are still thousands in need after Superstorm Sandy. A special community assessment is now underway in Ocean County, a little over seven months since the storm hit.

Representatives from World Renew Disaster Response Services along with Ocean County's Long Term Recovery Group are fanned out at various sites from now until June 17th.

Through the World Renew teams, Ocean County residents will have the opportunity to have an in-depth conversation with a representative about what their unmet needs are. The needs will then be documented and compiled in an effort to assess the current unmet needs for Ocean County residents.

"Residents who have a FEMA ID number should bring it with them. We feel reaching out this way will definitely help those in need," said Sue Marticek, FEMA 's voluntary agency liaison for Ocean County.

The teams will be located in six walk in centers in Manahawkin, Tuckerton, Lacey Township, Toms River, Brick, and Point Pleasant.

For more information on the assessments, residents can call the Ocean County Long Term Recovery Group at 732-569-3484 or visit their website at www.oceancountyltrg.org.
