Ocean County lawmakers team up with NJSPFA to collect PPE Gear

Lawmaker, law enforcement, community groups and more are doing what they can to help contribute PPE Gear donations to first responders and health care workers on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 10th District Ocean County Legislators have announced that they are joining the New Jersey State Troopers Fraternal Association who is conducting a Personal Protective Equipment Drive.

Ocean County State Senator Jim Holzapfel (R), Assemblyman Greg McGuckin (R) and Assemblyman John Catalano (R) are working with the NJ-SPFA to collect masks and other personal protective equipment to protect first responders and health care workers during the coronavirus crisis.

The Ocean County lawmakers are also commending Community Surgical Supply who made the first donation of KN95 masks to the cause.

“We are pleased to be involved in this effort with the State Troopers Fraternal Association to collect personal protective equipment to aide our first responders and health care professionals during the coronavirus pandemic,” The 10th District lawmakers said in a joint statement. “We are proud of those who are on the front lines during this crisis and we are proud to represent these brave men and women.”

Donations can be dropped off at the State Troopers Fraternal Association located at 2634 Route 70 in Manasquan.

“Doctors, nurses and essential workers are crying out for masks and other personal protective equipment and have been forced to wear bandanas and scarves for masks, trash bags for gowns and reuse contaminated medical equipment. Those on the front lines are in dire need to be protected from this infectious disease. Any donations at this time are greatly appreciated and will be given to our heroic men and women in these fields,” the legislators said in a joint statement.

The first donation to the drive came from Community Surgical Supply who donated 1,000 KN95 masks.

“We need to keep our healthcare and emergency personnel on the front lines safe. Community Surgical Supply is making this 1,000 masks donation through the 10^th District Legislative Office,” Michael Fried, Community Surgical Supply, said. “My company has now donated 15,000 masks total to address shortages. I urge everyone to do what they can to support local organizations and limit the spread of the virus by following the CDC’s guidelines.”
