In the past, says county Freeholder James Lacey, the dates were grouped into the span of about a month, twice a year in Spring and Autumn.

This year, he says, "we are holding the collection one day on a weekend each month...This should provide our residents with greater opportunities to get rid of items that could pose a hazard if kept in the home."

New to the schedule are:

  • Sunday, June 23: Lakewood Township Public Works Yard, 1 America Avenue
  • Saturday, July 27: Berkeley Township Public Works Garage, Pinewald-Keswick Road
  • Saturday, August 24: Jackson Township Public Works Garage, 10 Don Connor Boulevard
  • Saturday, September 28: Long Beach Township Public Works Garage, 7910 Long Beach Boulevard
  • Saturday, October 5: Point Pleasant Beach Municipal Parking Lot, Arnold Avenue at Ocean Avenue

Collection times for all dates are 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM.

It's a free service for residents and requires advance registration. It's funded through taxes collected under New Jersey's Recycling Enhancement Act Fund. Brooklyn-based Radiac Research is expected to conduct the collections at a rate of 40 cents per pound.
