The countdown to kickoff for the 39th annual U.S. Army All-Shore Gridiron Classic is underway as the Ocean and Monmouth County All Stars will go through one more practice tonight before taking the field Thursday night at Central Regional High School.

The game features more than 90 recently-graduated senior football players and while many will be playing in college for some it will be the final time they put on the pads and helmet.  Sponsored by the Shore Football Coaches Foundation and presented by the U.S. Army, our Shore Sports Network is the official media partner for the game which was first played in 1978 at Wall Stadium.

Ocean County is looking for its first-ever 3-game winning streak but still trails in the overall series 20-17 with one tie.  Tomorrow’s game will be broadcast on the Shore Sports Network’s 1160 & 1310AM and will as streamed live at shoresportsnetwork.com.  Tickets are $10 and will be sold at the gate beginning at 5pm.  For more on the game including updated team rosters visit shoresportsnetwork.com.

Yours truly will once again serve as Master of Ceremonies for tonight’s Ocean County College Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner which will be held in the school’s Health & Human Performance Center beginning at 6pm.

This will be the eighth class inducted into the Hall of Fame since its inception in 2003 and the diverse group of seven goes back to 1975 graduate Craig Bessinger who ran cross country and also wrestled when the Vikings had a club team.

Others who will be inducted tonight are Maggie Chussler McDuffee, Beth Root Ganley, Andrew Hawtin, Jennifer Nelson and brothers Brian & Kevin Waldron.
