OCC under security alert

Ocean County College classes in Toms River run on schedule, but the school is under a heightened security alert, owing to a social media posting.

Details on the OCC Facebook page are scant, but the posting by Security Director Robert Kumpf indicate that a threat prompted a tightened watch by campus security officers and Toms River police.

Kumpf's notice did not indicate the nature of the threat, the platform through which it appeared, nor the time it was discovered.

UPDATE - The security alert has been cleared, and police are investigating.
