OCC lockdown: police check report of trespassing hunters
TOMS RIVER - Ocean County College's main campus entered temporary shelter-in-place status this afternoon, after hunters were said to be treading nearby woods.
Toms River Police Department spokesman Ralph Stocco said that the risk of people with loaded weapons on the perimeter predicated the move, in an abundance of caution.
The initial report reached police at about 3 PM. Officers set about combing the forested sections. The lockdown was lifted by 4 PM, after a thorough search yielded no trace of trespassers.
