You may not be thinking about the holidays yet, but Christine Karaska, Employment specialist with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, said her department wants to get a jump on the season, noting it's the earliest they've held the job fair in the past 15 years.

"We have over 30 stores participating with upwards of 250 bonafied job openings," said Karaska. "They're retail jobs, so they start from management, cashiers, sales associates, stock clerks, and the mall is looking for security." Potential employees should apply to stores where they shop, suggested Karaska, pointing out they'll know the merchandise and will be able to take advantage of employee discounts if hired.

Kay Jewelers, Sketchers and the mall's four anchor stores will have representatives screening job applicants on the spot, according to Karaska. She said although applicants will be asked to apply online, there is a critical advantage to showing up in person to give store representatives a better impression that you want to be hired. Karaska also advised being prepared to answer, "Why should we hire you?"

"This an opportunity to meet someone, shake their hand and give them a reason to hire you," Karaska said.

The job fair will be held from Noon to 3p.m.
